How to Set Up Live Streaming on YouTube

live streaming on YouTube live streaming is a great way to connect with your audience in real time however before going live on YouTube you will need a recording device encoding software or application and your YouTube stream key to set up your YouTube live stream after logging into your YouTube account scroll to the top right corner and click on your user icon then click creator studio once in the Creator studio move to the left side of the screen and click on the live streaming tab the first thing you will need to do is download and setup your encoding software to find a verified list of encoders scroll to and click on the set up and coding software tab on the right side of the screen then click on guide to encoding there are a number of different encoding software platforms for you to choose from one of these is OBS our open broadcaster software OBS is a free encoder that operates on both Mac and PC after downloading and setting up your encoding software you will then have to connect your encoder to your YouTube channel via a server URL and streamkey these are found in the encoder setup window your stream key is the key to live streaming on your YouTube channel and anyone with your stream key will be able to livestream on your channel for this reason your stream keys should always be kept secret if you think your stream key has been compromised or as we have here displayed for instructional purposes ensure you click on the reset button to obtain a new stream key and keep your channel secure encoding software differs from platform to platform here we are using OBS to demonstrate how to connect to the youtube server URL and enter in your stream key in OBS selecting YouTube / YouTube gaming connects you to the YouTube server URL then enter in your specific stream key from your youtube channel after setting up your audio and video components to start streaming click on the start streaming button to livestream from your phone there is a free encoding app called YT streamer after downloading and opening this application to connect it to your YouTube livestream tap the plus symbol in the top right corner of the screen verify that the YouTube server URL is correct then type in your YouTube stream key after doing this tap on the Save Settings button at the bottom of the screen then tap on that go back to broadcaster button once in broadcaster to start or stop your livestream tap on the connect or disconnect button at the bottom of the screen lastly you will want to share or embed your livestream to learn how to do this click on the link in the video to the next lesson if you would like to learn more about live streaming click on the Creator Academy link in the video description
